So thankful for the chance I have to serve the Lord....

This has been a pretty good week. We have a guy who wants to get baptized and will have a date tomorrow night. We do have some sunshine but quite a bit of rain. Our adventure last p-day was so fun.
The waterfall we saw last p-day

First off yesterday I gave a talk in sacrament meeting. It was on John 14:15 if ye love me keep my commandments. It was super good. Sacrament is too short now Haha I didn't think I would have that problem but time ran out quick.

Then yesterday after church while we were at the apartment some people from a Baptist church knocked on our door inviting us to their church. The shoe was on the other foot for once. So we talked to them for a bit and told them the truth but they didn't want to listen. One crazy thing they told us was that when Jesus was dead for 3 days that he went to hell. We were like nope Haha then proved them wrong in the scriptures but they were closed off. So that was very interesting to get our door knocked on for once.

Elder Blosch, Kyle Dory and Elder Hershey

Rhonda shared this story of  Kyle Dory, the son of Kirk and Kris Dory of Laramie Wyoming, with Elder Carter this week. Kyle's mom Kris Dory and Rhonda are first cousins. Kyle was in remission from a brain tumor when he received his mission call to serve in New York, Rochester Mission. When he had a screening MRI last week, prior to entering the MTC, it was discovered that the cancer had returned and it was in his brain stem and spinal cord. Kyle will start radiation treatments later this week. When Kyle's  mission president found out that Kyle would not be able to serve his mission he allowed Kyle to fly to Rochester and serve with missionaries for a few days prior to starting radiation treatments.

Here’s what his mission president said about his first day in the field:

Elder Dory arrived safely and in good spirits. He and I went downtown and contacted people.  He was a natural. He gave away a copy of a Book of Mormon and testified of how Jesus helped him deal with cancer to a man whose wife was having health issues. Touched the man’s heart and we prayed with and for him on the street.  He is going out with his companions (Elder Blosch and Elder Hershey) tonight to teach 2 lessons.  He and I will go to the Sacred Grove in the morning and he will be back with his companions in time for their district meeting tomorrow. His District leader is a cancer survivor and was brought to tears when I told him Elder Dory was going to be in his district for a week. He kept humbling saying while emotional “he is my hero”. Your son has already blessed lives and he has only been here a few hours.  I will send a picture of him at the grove tomorrow. Thanks for raising such an outstanding faith filled young man and sending him to us!!

Elder Carter: "The story about Kyle is super humbling. Hearing about him and seeing the picture makes my heart so happy he gets to serve even for a little bit. I know that I might make it sound like I'm not grateful sometimes but I truly and so thankful for the chance I have to serve the Lord. As time goes on the message I share grows more meaning to me personally. I know that these people here need to hear it. I love the lord and am so happy he has allowed me to help with his work!
