The California fires, Addison's baptism and my new companion Elder Turley

October 21st,  2019

"So with transfers I am staying and elder Berry is leaving. I will be getting another companion named elder Turley. Elder Berry was companions with him a little while ago and really loved him. So I am excited to be with him."

Question: Do you get to spend time with the youth in the ward?
Elder Carter’s answer: "We do get to spend quite a bit of time with the youth and at ward events. Then we have a pretty big focus on visiting members so we get to spend at least an hour with members every day too. I agree with you, activities are the best."

"Yes, California is indeed on fire again. It's a yearly thing. Haha. The smoke makes for some good sunsets though. But we are pretty much unaffected by it because we are right on the ocean."

"Addison’s baptism last Saturday was so good!!!!! His family came who aren't members and it was a super spiritual time. So we were super happy and excited for that."

"The first week with Elder Turley has been busy and good. This is his first transfer as a Zone Leader so I am trying to teach him and still hold the zone together. With the new transfer starting me and elder Turley had to help all the other missionaries get moved in and settled. So we were running around for a couple days but got everything figured out now thankfully. They added 2 more companionships to our zone so now there are 28 missionaries in our zone."

"Regarding Halloween: We aren't doing too much to stay out of trouble this year. Sadly, we didn’t have enough time to get costumes put together so we just went to the ward party as missionaries. It was still super fun though."

Question: What is a typical day for you?
Answer: "This is a typical day for us.  Wake up a 0600 and go to the church to play basketball or some other game with the district. Then get ready for the day, plan, and personal study. Then we will usually go out tracking and visiting people from 10-12 when we eat lunch. Then we do our comp study, plan other things for the zone, and fill out forms on the computer. Pretty much every other day we have 30 minutes on a computer doing a form or report. Then we have dinner from 4-5 then go out and track from 5-7 just finding new people. Teach lessons from 7-8. And visit members from 8-9. Then after 9 we get ready for bed and take care of anything else that needs to be taken care of. We usually talk on the phone with the District Leaders or training leaders. Then go to bed at 1030."
